Kimmy, Leisa & I hit the road this Saturday to support Long Dong on his event. We entered the venue at about 1:40 am and to our surprise the sound was in the middle of the floor with the picture man to the left side and the bar to the right. The venue had a much cozier appearance thus setting the vibe for the night.........(more)

I'm telling you people de was KRAZY ENERGY in de building! And Bounty didn't disappoint!! He performed every chune dat I wanted him to, being dat Bounty is my favorite DJ, I was well pleased! In two winks of an eye, the place started to fill up and I started running around and taking pictures. It was a star studded night of bashment and people ended up coming out from far and wide to help Glamour Wayne celebrate his birth strong! Ganjababy and I arrived at GFS around 1:00am, the venue was not pack at all, but looking at the line up, we figured that would soon change. Hollywood was (of course) RAM, there was no coat check but VIBEZ did deh deh. Destiny was behind the controls getting the crowd hot. Next up was Emperor. Rawborn and Bouncer did the damn thang. Black and White Affair @ Settings

When we got to the venue the first two things I noticed was the limousines and the LINE…My God, the line was long as hell at 2:45! PG Police were manning the door and no matter how much I told him that we should be inside, he was just not trying to hear me…Lucky thing Desi came up right around that time.....(more)

 

Bounty Killer @ Weyone Ballroom


Bounty Killer was up next and the people were getting ready to tear down the walls. Bounty hit the stage with his signature 'Aye Yo, Yallow' and the place mash up. Bounty did hits from 'Lodge' to 'Living Dangerously', from 'Cellular Phone' to 'Fitness' and I enjoyed every living minute of it......(more)

 

Vicious Birthday Bash

In the blink of an eye, the venue filled up and the 'racatan' began. Next up was Raw Deal sound. Dre gave the massive the fullness with tunes on the G-String, the Mexican and the Diwali, of course. Black Star Anniversary

Black Star is a foundation sound that was very prominent in DC in the 80's and very early 90's. They left the DC area and went to Florida and they are now back to bring us extreme niceness and a lot of foundation. Black Star is a veteran sound in the business.......(more)

 

Howard University Homecoming (StoneLove)

Next up was Geefus (with is cute self) and the StoneLove gang. Well, what can I say about this segment. More of the same BASHMENT!…Tall up, tall up, walk up, talk up, skin out, bruk out…generally gwan BAD! Stonelove kept the ruckus going, kept the girls acting up and had CMB buss the new dance named the "Skettel Run" and trust me, this one you have GOT to see!!.......(more)

Next up, Half Krazy…jeezam! Big, big forwards from start to finish. Slaughter G and Trigga have always been good but I think this was one of my first big shocks for the night! Damn…the crowd reaction was off the hook and these guys were just getting started. They had an almost perfect round.......(more)

 

Capleton at Weyone Ballroom

Capleton hit the stage with the energy of a champion throughbred and ran through his sets like butta baby. The band did an excellent job of keeping up with the prophet and so did the crowd. The Fireman ran through hits like 'Burning You', 'Jah City', and 'Bun Out A Chi-Chi'......(more)

He made it a point to big up all crews and remind the massive to log on to B.L.U. for the review of the dance. Chris took the patrons to a different level and switched up the vibes a little by moving into a hip-hop set.....(more)

Jamaica Independance Dance

Next up on the wheels of steel was Kings Sound (check out their interview in the sounds section). What can I say fellas?? I was around when you used to rock Chachonia’s…I dug the vibe then and I am surely digging it now. Kings spun some conscious tunes and built up into the gal tunes and gun tunes. I heard quite a few new Capeltons and loved Bounty's Suffera Excellent job gentlemen and I hope to see much, much more of you....(more)

Friday Night, Club Hollywood

When we entered the venue it was PACKED, PACKED ,
PACKED...damn, I mean can a sista get some room to walk. We finally linked up with the rest of our folks and as usual, it was on....At the controls we had my good, good Destiny Fam, Baby Wayne Movements, Zone One and DJ Prince! Needless to say, this was a good package for a Friday, ESPECIALLY since it was my first trip to the club in almost a year (time flies)!....(more)

Tarzan's Scool Uniform Dance

He then goes on to say he’s the principal of the school for that night and anything goes, there are no rules for this school and with that the mix up started.  With all the drama that Matterhorn kept up that night it’s a wonder that a fight didn’t break out, but after seeing the way Tarzan threw out those that fought last year, I think all the ladies knew better..LOL....(more)


Buju Banton/Assassin and Elephant Man/TOK Shows

So Sunday night’s mission – reach to the venue before 1:00am.  Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls I proud to say that we did it!!  Thank you, thank you, no need for applause.  I shocked myself but there was no way I was going to miss any part of the Elephant Man show.  By the time we got there the place was more than half full and after being there for only 10 mins -  it was show time.  TOK took the stage and gave a wonderful performance.....(more)


Stone Love Annual Mother's Day/Graduation Dance

As usually DC’s ladies were out in full force that night.  I swear, there was a time when females would just stand around staring at each other but dem days are long gone.  Throw on Lexxus’ “walk up inna de video” and watch the hysteria that ensues…LOL  That’s good  – get you monies worth and if you're cute then by all means show it off…….BUT..... if your not – don’t fool yourself – it WILL show on the video camera!!! ....(more)
Baltimore Aries Birthday Bash
Next up was Jamaica world clash winner Tony Matterhorn. There were no dubs, no clash tunes – just straight juggling for the ladies. He started of with songs like “Like a Virgin” and “Footloose” and had the females doing the twist, walking up in the video light, and we knew who had big feet from whose shoes did fe dem. By the time Matterhorn released the Buzz riddim, the lights were on but unlike DC folks, Baltimore patrons didn’t scatter like roaches. ....(more)
Girls Night Out 2002
Guys, if you missed it - it was definitely a GIRLS NIGHT OUT - the females were out in full force.  I guess it's just something about Stone Love that everyone drops everything and heads to the latest venue.  Well such was the case on Friday because the place was full!  There were alot of outta towners in the place that night and everyone came out and just had fun....(more)
Andy Gee's Birthday Bash
Every sound man in the place had either their lighter or their hands in the air at this point.  Then Millennium threw and dub on the turntables, followed by Emperor and Vicious kept the vibes going on the mic.  It was good to see all the local sound men come together and play with each other for Andy’s Birthday. DC's 5th Annual Reggae Music Awards
The evening progressed rather slowly as all of DC's local "celebrities" slowly made their way  to the program.  The event gave everyone a chance to mingle, network and generally relax in a different environment than we were used to.  Awards were given out for 26 catagories and for Reggae Lifetime Achievement.  The awards ceremony was founded in 1997 for "...the promotion of Reggae Music and the honoring of entertainment, businesses and promoters ..." I decided to head to B-more for Rebels & Flavor Kids Army Style dance.  It’s been a while since I’ve been to B-more for a dance and my first time going to Corboda.  After getting lost and almost being eaten by deer (that’s how far into the woods we went) Michy Guch and I finally made to the club and had NO choice but to park in a spot where we knew we’d be ticketed….ahhhhh the price we pay to party!!?? ... Elephant Man at DC Tunnel.......
When we entered the venue, Raw Deal was playing and you already know how I (we) feel about Raw Deal.  That sound can definitely move a crowd and keep the vibes going!  Raw Deal played the tunes that made you move and had the crowd at a good level of hype.  Dre was on the wheels of steel doing his thing.  He did an excellent job in keeping up the standard that Raw Deal had previously set in dancehall venues in D.C. and in Baltimore! ... Mother's Day Bashment - B-more.....
I had a long conversation with Belton, who is the owner of the Gentleman’s Ten venue.  He informed me that they have been getting quite a fight to even keep the venue OPEN.  Belton operates his venue BY THE BOOK and that means that liquor doesn’t sell after 2am at this particular venue HOWEVER, it is ok to BRING LIQUOR IN after two.  So if you can find an open liquor store OR an open UHAUL TRUCK…you’re in luck!! ... The Annual affair featured Stone Love and Emperor and Soul Jah One.  When we finally got there, Emperor was behind the turn tables and I was pleasantly surprised to see Raymond from Emperor in Jamaica.  Mad love and respect goes out to the entire Emperor family……..but I have a question………what happened to Scalla Lee????????  Has he gone back to Galalee?? ... Run Things Promotions - Vintage 2000......
I just love it when a Promoter gives you EVEN MORE than you bargained for!  Run Things had a GOOD TURN OUT for this show and DOWNBEAT is my kind of sound.  I tell you, the older music does something different too me.  Makes me wanna shout and stomp my feet and throw GUN FINGERSin the air.  I enjoyed the musical selections that I got from Down Beat, Kolours Everlasting , Zone One & Inna Faith.  This show was well organized and well put together! ... Personally, I was not feeling the vibe at all. I had to constantly dodge to different corners of the club, hiding from a very persistent individual who shall remain nameless. When we were walking to the building, I was stop by a young man who asked if I was going to dance at the club.....for those of you who don't know, Reggae Lounge a.k.a. Club 1919 serves as a strip club a couple nights a week. I didn't know whether to be flattered or insulted. Imagine someone paying me to take off my clothes........hmmmm!!! ... (more)
Settings Grand Opening/Run Things Promotions presents......
I've got to give it to Carlos, this man definitely knows how to land on his feet. As many of you probably already know, the Settings Nightclub is no longer located in International Mall. It has moved further down University Boulevard near the Checkers, behind the Dunkin' Donuts. Last night faithful Settings nightclub goers were out in full force.... so was Bashment Linkup! ... (more)
NMG Promotions Stone Love - B-more......
What can I say about Stone Love in Baltimore (Gentleman's Ten)? The first word that comes to mind is VIBES... The dance turned out to be quite a "Star Studded" event...even Ricky Trooper was in attendance. All of the sounds played well and kept the crowd's attention. The D.C. massive was well represented, they really showed up to support this Baltimore event. I personally think that this is one of the reasons why the dance turned out so well! ...
