Jah Jah City Jah Jah Town...Capleton @ WeyoneWhats up folks...Kimmy Bashment here one mo' gin giving you the scoop on the Capleton Show at Weyone Ballroom....
When I got in, Zone One was playing...and with the help of DJ Prince it made for a really nice vibe. Vicious did his best to bus the dance and keep the patrons satisfied until the Fireman made his way to the stage. While I waited for Capleton..I wondered around the venue, took some pictures and generally tried to get into the mood for the evening. As I made my way around the venue, I was a little worried at the time. It was already 2:30pm and Capleton was still not on stage. This would have been fine...except for the fact that there is now a 3:00am rule in DC...so needless to say, the patrons (myself included) were becoming a little antsy. Just when I thought all hope was lost....we were taken back stage so that we would have a better vantage point at whice to take the pictures....well this was fine except for the fact that the stage began to get extremely crowded and Capleton's manager made it clear that he wanted everyone gone! At least I had already gotten all of the pictures that I needed. Capleton hit the stage with the energy of a champion throughbred and ran through his sets like butta baby. The band did an excellent job of keeping up with the prophet and so did the crowd. The Fireman ran through hits like 'Burning You', 'Jah City', and 'Bun Out A Chi-Chi'. I didn't hear any old hits and maybe that had a lot to do with time constraints.... Some of the patrons were NOT happy. Capleton performed for all of 15-20 minutes and then the lights went on and it was time to go. Mosity and I sat by the door waiting for Ganja Baby and as we watched people file out, some patrons started to chant 'fiya bun fi the promota'...As you know DC crowds can be a little rowdy, but in this instance I agree that there could have been a little more organization. I don't know who is at fault, however next time Capleton comes to D.C. I'm sure people will be a little leary. Cheify, you know I love ya man...but what happened? Tell us what went down! BLU.com's advise...get to Weyone Ballroom or any venue in DC for that matter EARLY and pray for the best! Smooches,
